Last year, my mom and I planted a garden... I had the best intentions for keeping up with it, I did, but by mid-July the garden was dead. It wasn't all my fault, we had bugs... and bad dirt.
This year is totally different! Maybe I'm more motivated or maybe I'm just older and more interested, I don't know but I LOVE IT! My flowers look amazing, if I do say so myself! For Mothers Day, my mom bought me a ton of perennials and some bug killer :) We got some really good fertilizer (which I think makes all the difference) and soil and planted away!
Because I am new at this, my good friend Steph Thomason gave me some pointers and some Zinnia seeds from her garden last year... She said that Zinnia's were so easy to take care of, literally all I had to do was put these seeds on the ground and cover them with dirt... Yeah right, she doesn't know who she's dealing with. I'm a hot mess when it comes to gardening!
So.... I did it....
This was after about 2 weeks... I couldn't believe it!! I thought it was a weed at first, I almost pulled it!
then about 3 weeks later....
This little puppy showed up and I could barely contain my excitement!!
This picture was taken the same day as the one above... These guys come up to my knee and the greenery is beautiful!! Except... There is a very hungry little caterpillar that lives in my flower bed and loves to munch on my zinnias. I've sprayed and sprayed but I still find little holes :( I'll get him, I'm on a mission....
THEN... FINALLY!!!!! Only about 4 days after the photo above was taken....
THEY ARE HERE!!! AND I LOVE THEM!!! See that little hole in my pretty green leaf... That caterpillar won't know what hit him...
YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!
I would like to thank Steph Thomason for believing in me and my mom for buying that awesome bug killer and fertilizer :)
More pics of the my little garden :)
Gerber Daisey's :) My fave
This end got some serious reconstructive surgery!
I don't remember what these are called but I love them!
Love it :)

THE Haircut.....
This child throws an absolute conniption fit when the word "haircut" even enters into conversation but for some absolutely insane reason, he says I, his mother who can barely even shampoo hair correctly, can give him a haircut. Oy....
He was in a huge wedding last weekend and I had big plans to take him to get it cut professionally. Bobby took him so they could both do it together, thinking it would work for sure since he was getting one too.... Yeah, they refused service... Must have been the high pitched screaming and kicking...
So.... He looked like a little ragamuffin for the wedding :(
Here are the before and after pics......
Before.... A disgusting sweaty mess....
After... Looks kind of like he'll be heading off to boot camp next week.
It's really short. But it IS summer.
And there are little patches in places. But it's done. And Brady loves it.
That's all that matters :)

Blessings
Among all this sadness came many, many blessings.
First of all, Bobby and I had been so busy, we barely had time for each other. God gave us 56 hours in the car together.
The boys were beyond well behaved.
We got to really know Daynet and her heart. She has/had so much love for my dad.
Daynet and I had a really long talk about my dad and his faith. I was scared that although he was raised Catholic, he didn't have a relationship with God. She assured me that he prayed often.
I got to see and spend some quality time with my Grandma Oelgoetz.
I got to see and spend time with my Aunt Mary Ann and her family. They are precious and so much fun. Brady got to go to his first "the cross" game and he LOVED it!
I got to see and spend time with my Uncle Joe and Uncle Tim. Both of which I hadn't seen in years and years.
My sister and I had a lot of talking to do and she rode with us back to Ohio the second time we went. That was a huge highlight to that trip.
We reconnected with my step brother. We haven't seen him in about 5 years so that was really special. He's now 12 years old and turning out to be a great kid. Hopefully we'll be able to spend some time with him this summer.
I remember the good times before dad got really sick. I bet that if he and I went to high school together, we would have been best friends. He was hilarious :) My uncle told a lot of really funny stories about dad growing up in his Eulogy. He was a hot mess growing up and I loved it! From putting my Uncle Tim in the dryer to streaking through cheerleading tryouts and the band banquet, he's my dad. He was an incredible Lacrosse player and insanely intelligent. He was my dad. He loved music so much. I bet he's singing praises to God right now.
RIP Dad.....

Dad 3....
God opened about 8 doors four trip. We were able to stay with my Aunt Carol on a moments notice, my Mom just happened to be there visiting so she was able to keep the boys while we were at the hospital and the biggest was that the church, where Bobby is employed, said see ya.... Take care of Liz. Bobby said, "it's so comforting to know that the people at work are praying for me instead of waiting for me." There was no time cap on when we HAD to be back so he could work. Wow... talk about about comforting. In reality, we figured there was about a 50/50 chance of him pulling through. I was thinking more that I'd be there when he woke up to tell him everything I needed to tell him, not that I'd be saying goodbye.
When we were about 30 minutes outside of Columbus, I got a phone call from Daynet and again, she sounded bad. She said the nurse just told her that we should expect the worst but pray for the best. Praise God we were there.
We dropped the boys off to my Mom, AC and GG and headed to the hospital. I was an anxious, nervous, blubbery mess. I am so forever thankful for Bobby and his strength that night and the reast of the week. He was just there.. the entire time, with open arms for me to lean into. I expected the sight to be terrible and I was more than right. Tubes and medical equipment everywhere. His body was so swollen that his eyes wouldn't shut so he had on little goggles to try and protect them.
I asked for a moment and said everything I needed to say. We prayed. Alot. They say he heard me.
I'm going to make a long story short about our time their because it was a long time and it could take 27 posts to get it all out.....
I'm sorry it took so long to continue my story... We had some baby drama, all is well now.
Back to dad, we had three options....
1. Attempt to resuscitate when his heart fails which, because he was on the blood pressure medicine, would o nly have a 2% chance of success.
2. Sign the DNR and wait until his heart gave up.
3. Stop treatment.
My step mom went with option two, praying for the best. I felt like option three was the obvious choice because of the condition he was in but I don't know that I could have made that decision if I were her. The doctors said that dad would either begin to get better or not and there wasn't much else the doctors could do. We decided to stay another 48 hours but I was emotionally drained. On Monday at the hospital, the doctor came in and said IF dad made it out of this alive, he'd be living in a nursing home on a ventilator and dialysis machine, probably blind and not all there due to the fact he never came out of his drug induced coma, even after medications to bring him out had been administered. Daynet was still fighting for him. At that point, I decided to say goodbye and take my family home.
That evening, Daynet called and said Dad had been responding to her. I felt good about my decision to go home.
The following day, when we were 30 minutes from our front door, I got the call that my dads kidneys had completely shut down and the doctor said he would not live outside the hospital so the only option was to turn off the machines.
We made plans to head back to columbus on Saturday to prepare for services.

Dad 2....
I was worried about my dad. Our relationship was hard to explain. We spoke once every week or two and it was always very positive and full of love from his end. It's really easy to be whoever you want from 13 hours away. I think he was incredibly in love with his wife but not in love with his life. Again, I think he lived with a lot of guilt and he was on full disability so he couldn't work. I think he probably felt like Daynet was working for them and he felt guilty (again) for that. I was under the impression that he was trying to lose weight (he was extremely overweight) and had quit drinking. This tells me that he was aware of his problems but people with alcoholism have such a hard time with self control. Daynet said that the week before he was admitted, he went into a severe depression and consumed nothing but alcohol. Therefore, he was highly malnutritioned and his immune system was shot and very vulnerable to any germ floating in the air.
More than his health, I was worried about his salvation. More on this later...
How could I not read into any of this? Why didn't I just ask once, "how are you dad? No really... how are you..." Why didn't I ever tell him I forgave him for leaving us? Because I did.... I knew he was sick. No man, in his right mind, would just leave his family. There is always something darker, bigger.... Lot's of woulda coulda shoulda's hovering over my heart in the week to follow.
I continued getting updates from Daynet twice a day. She really is awesome. She remained totally optimistic throughout the following week, leaving me at (as much as possible) peace being in Oklahoma instead of in Ohio. At this point, he was on the respirator and lots and lots of meds, one of which was for low blood pressure. On Wednesday, the 21st, they decided to do a tracheotomy (sp) for the respirator because he had strep throat and the tubes were not helping the matter plus they had been down his throat for over a week which causes scar tissue. Meanwhile, there was a lot question as to why he wasn't waking up. We all assumed it was because of all the fluid they pumped into him when he arrived. His kidneys began to act up. Things started taking a turn for the worse. That's how the ICU works- it can take a turn for better or worse really really quickly. They couldn't pull fluids from the dialysis machine because of the low bp. They couldn't treat a lot of things because of the low bp. It was an ugly, vicious cycle.
On Thursday, April 22nd, Daynet called and sounded totally drained. Bless her heart, I could here it all over her voice, as much as she tried to hide it, I knew things weren't good. I couldn't let my dad go without letting him know I loved him and forgave him. So, we loaded up the highlander and set off to Columbus early the following morning with lots of people praying really really hard.

Dad....
I have been 100% checked out the last 2 months... I was having a terrible day on Wednesday, April 14th. Nothing seemed to be going my way. The boys were behaving terribly and I had just found out I had about 25 pages worth of really deep, soul emptying questions I needed to fill out and turn in by the following day for a conference that Bobby and I planned on attending in May. I was so mad about the miscommunication, I was throwing a bit of a little baby fit. That evening, I had a dinner planned with a few women that I had been doing a small group with that took my mind of things for a bit and refreshed me. I had just gotten into my car after dinner when I checked my voicemails from the missed calls I recieved while at dinner and there was one from my step mom's cell phone... wierd, she doesn't usually call me.
Let me back up really quickly. It is really important for me to highlight the fact that I really believe God had been preparing me for this for quite sometime. I talked to the two girls in my accountibility group about how I was scared that God was preparing me for a tragedy. I wasn't ready to lose anyone close to me. I began praying that God would would work on my heart in this. And I really believe that he did....
Back to the voicemail.... it was my step mom, Daynet, and she sounded a little distracted and worried. I immediately returned the phone call and she informed me that my Dad had been transported via ambulance to the Emergency room the previous evening because he couldn't breathe. He called 911 himself, because she was working. She said that he was in critical condition at the Ohio Medical Center ICU. I asked if I should come up and she said no. He was only considered critical condition because he was in a drug induced coma for the detox but should be coming out of it soon.
My Dad was an alcoholic my entire life. He also smoked since he was able to light a cigarette. He was one of the funniest men I ever met. He was a huge hippie growing up and he never grew out of it. He wanted to be a rockstar. He was a rockstar. His guitar was his favorite little treasure. He never passed judgement on anyone but himself. He had the kindest heart. He was a really sick man. In his opinion, he made a lot of mistakes in his adult life and just couldn't shake the guilt. I really believe, as hard as Daynet tried, no one could have saved him from himself except God. I think the week leading up to his ambulance ride was his cry for help. Unfortunately, it went further than intended.

Everybody Poops
Brady is now just shy of 2.5 and everyone says that most boys aren't ready to potty train until at least 3 years old. I beg to differ... He shows all the signs that he is completely capable of trading in his diapers for some big boy undies!
Let me just say that since the day Brady was born I have absolutely DREADED the day that we were going to have to start potty training. I don't know why I wasn't really nervous about all the other HUGE monumental milestones like feeding yourself, walking, talking, etc. but this potty thing really has me wound up. We started the whole process about a month ago, knowing we were just going to kind of introduce it slowly to make sure he was really ready for it. He was AWESOME!! I can probably count on one hand the number of accidents he had but we slowly learned that he would rather constipate himself than poo poo on the potty. He told us when he had to go but the second his booty hit that seat he'd say, " I NOT POOPY IN DA POTTY I NOT!!!" So we'd put a diaper on him and out it would come. Last week, he started taking his diaper off himself after he pooped and saying things like, "das digusting!" and "ewwwwww yucky." I said enough. He will do it.
It wasn't pretty and it took a whole lot of bribes and constipated days but (sound the horns), HE DID IT!!! Bobby and I told him we'd buy an awesome present at the store if he did it and he held us to that promise! I was on my way to Wal Mart with the boys this morning to get his "present", which to me was a little $3 football, when Bobby shows up with this look on his face like Brady just got elected President of the United States and puts this big little tikes slide in the cart... Okay, that works too :)
All of this for one little poop :)
We are so proud!!!

GOOOOOOO TEAM!
I. Am. Exhausted. Another year of auditions have come and gone. After 12 weeks of our winter training program, we auditioned almost 45 girls. I took 41 of those sweet faces and am so incredibly excited for what this year has in store! As excited as I am, I always find myself so emotionally drained. I get really attached to these girls and ultimately want to take them all and love them and take care of them etc, but at the end of the day some of them just don't want it enough.
I am listening to some news show in the background about how a lady gave birth but didn't have a clue she was even pregnant.... Yeah right... Sorry A.D.D. It's preventing me from pouring my heart out!
I guess all I have to say is that I absolutely love my job as the Director of the Owasso Color Guard and am so blessed that I am able to do it. I like to tell everyone that I have the best of both of my worlds. I get to stay at home with the boys AND love my work! I love the mental, physical and emotional strength that the girls develop through this activity. I love to watch them step outside of their comfort zones and grow personally. I love to watch them grow from awkward junior high girls to intelligent, respectful, respectable high school girls. I love to watch them set goals and achieve them and most of all, I love to watch them break through the mental block of "I can't". The OCG has a ton of exciting changes happening this season and I am so excited that I get to be a part of it! Please pray for these 41 girls and the influence that I have on them. They are in for an incredible experience this season!
Thank you to you Timmy for believing and investing so much into me. I love you and good luck tomorrow!!

Jesus, eggs, friends and family!
What a wonderfully blessed Easter weekend! I was coming off of two weeks of up at 6 am down at 11 and was so exhausted, not particularly looking forward to a weekend jam packed of events but man did we have some fun!
I debated with whether or not to dye eggs with Brady because I thought, he's only two, he'll be interested for 30 seconds and then off on his next adventure.... Boy was I WRONG! I'm so glad Brady's babysitter, Kim, put the guilt trip on me and we did it!!
Trying to figure this whole thing out.....
Pretty dang cool mom!!!
Proud of all that hard work!!
We started off early Saturday morning at the zoo with some good friends of ours, Laurel and Layney Molini. We met at 8 ready to get our egg hunt on!! I had a feeling pictures with the easter bunny were pretty much out of the question since our little incident with "Rambo" the Owasso Rams Mascot last fall... He pretty much shakes and screams when he sees any costumed thing heading his way. Sure enough, the little old lady asked if he'd be taking any pictures with the Easter bunny and he proudly replied, "NOPE! I scared da Eater Bunny!" That's okay, maybe next year :) Here are a few pictures from the Zoo!
Waiting for the countdown!!
Move it or lose it sister!!
After the Zoo hunt, we came home for a quick nap before the neighborhood egg hunt! Our small group puts on the event and for the second year in a row, it was a huge success!! We just purchase 250-500 eggs per family and fill them with candy, then distribute fliers all over our neighborhood and watch the kiddos flood in! This year, we were so fortunate enough to get $100 donation to go toward candy. What a blessing!
Getting lined up and ready to go!
Directly following the neighborhood hunt, we headed home to get ready for Bobby's 30th Birthday block party! Bobby isn't much for making a fuss about birthdays, especially his own, but I suggested we do something fun this being a monumental one and all! He decided the only thing he really wanted was to get to know his neighbors better so we bought a ton of food and invited the neighbors and a bunch of his close friends and family over and 'we had us a cookout'! Pretty much the entire cul de sac showed up, along with a bunch our friends and family and we had a blast! I think we counted close to 70 guests throughout the evening!! I am so mad at myself for not remembering to get the camera out but I was too busy getting to know our neighbors! It was fun and it's so nice to be able to have a conversation with them by name now instead of a measly wave every once in awhile! If you don't know you neighbors, I urge you to go introduce yourself!
Sunday was just awesome! We started our day at FCC, man was God moving through that place! I am so humbled to serve a God that has so much love for me. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Now that I have my own children, God's love for us is totally put into perspective for me. It gives me chills just thinking about it... PRAISE HIM, HE IS RISEN!!!!!
A few pics from our Easter outfit photo shoot :)
We went with plaids this year :)
Sweetest brothers :)
Later in the afternoon on Sunday we went to my moms house for some yummy dinner and family time!
Incredible family :) Too much fun!
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter holiday filled with Jesus, eggs, friends and family!!

Beth Moore
As I was doing my Psalms of Ascent study this morning, there was an excerpt by Eugene Peterson that I loved and felt led to share....
"We are not presented with a functional god who will help us out of jams or an entertainment god who will lighten our tedious hours. We are presented with the God of exodus and Easter, the God of Sinai and Calvary. If we want to understand God, we must do it on his terms. If we want to see God the way he really is, we must look to the place of authority- to Scripture and to Jesus Christ.
And do we really want it any other way? I don't think so. We would very soon become contemptuous of a god whom we could figure out like a puzzle or learn to use like a tool. No, if God is worth our attention at all, he must be a God we can look up to- a God we must look up to... The moment we look up to God (and not over him, or down on him) we are in the posture of servitude."
Beth Moore goes on to say, "Peterson doesn't mean God can't or won't get us out of jams. But if that's all we make of him, we've missed the true enormity of God. Think about what Peterson said about figuring God out like a puzzle. Consider afresh that God was just as intentional about what he didn't tell us in scripture as what he did. You might say that what is missing and unexplained on the pages of scripture is in some ways just as inspired as what you find in ink. Who else is so brilliant, so multidimensional, and gloriously mysterious that you could spend your entire life studying and never grasp his vastness."
What an incredible God we serve! So often, we try to make God what we think he should be in our heads. Rather, look up and listen. Rely on the pages of the Bible. Allow him to reveal himself, on his terms!
"I lift my eyes to you, the one enthroned in heaven."
Psalm 123:1

The Big 2-7
Today is my 27th birthday and what a wonderful day it is!!!! I woke up to Dawson grabbing my nose (he doesn't sleep in our bed, Bobby just put him there as he was leaving today because he was WIDE awake and getting frustrated that he was by himself...), followed shortly by Brady yelling for me to come get him for some cuddles :) He said, "hi mommy!! Hatty birtday and da pawty and da birtday caaaaaaaake!!!" It was the sweetest thing ever!! We lounged around and then all got dressed and went to meet Bobby for lunch at one of my favorite restaurants ever, The Brook.
We had a nice long lunch and by the time we left, the boys were spent, it was WAAAAY past nap time. When we got home, it was like magic, they both went to sleep at the same time! What a birthday present :) I got to finish my bible study and write this blog! In addition to all these wonderful things, today marks a VERY awesome day in our families life! Today was Bobby's last day at his current job, doing business development for an aerospace company. He's been with Primus International for over three years and has been very content there, however, he has felt God tugging on his heart for quite sometime.
Bobby and I had a pretty deep conversation this past summer about the fact that we thought God had way bigger plans for us than what we were allowing him to carry out. We talked about the legacy we were leaving in this world and immediately knew it wasn't enough. We began volunteering more at church and really praying that God start opening doors to allow us to have more influence on this community. Then this fall our church, First Christian Church of Owasso, announced that they would be launching a multi-site location on the opposite side of town. To make a long story short, God opened up a ton of doors both with this Stone Canyon site and in our lives! Bobby applied for the position and after a few months of interviews with lots of different people, he was offered the position of Campus Pastor of the FCC Stone Canyon site! The launch date is set for August 22, 2010 and we couldn't be more excited to reach the lost and influence this community for God's Kingdom!!!

Dawson Maddox Micheal Reed
Disregard the goofy OU hat :) He has an OSU one just like it but somehow, no one managed to take any pictures of him in it!! Anyhow, this sweet little bundle of joy was born on September 21, 2009 at 1:00 in the afternoon. He weighed 7lbs 14.5 oz and was 21.5 inches long. Bobby and I were pretty sure that since Brady was such a mild mannered, sweet, easy going baby that we were really in for a little terror child..... WRONG!! God blessed us with the most laid back, happy baby ever!! From the second he entered this world it was like he was saying, "can everyone just chill out and be happy?!" He latched on quickly and slept well and allowed me to take him with me to practice everyday!! He was born on Monday and attended his first practice and football game on Friday and his first (of many) marching band competitions on Saturday. He got to take trips to St. Louis, MO and Indianapolis, IN all before he was 7 weeks old! Finally around 8 weeks after he was born, we got to settle down and relax for a few weeks before the holidays arrived along with lots of family to cuddle and love him!
Proud parents!!
So sweet :)
Brady absolutely ADORES his baby brother! This is Brady and Dawson when Dawson was just 6 weeks old!
More kisses! This picture was taken on Christmas Day!
Dawson is now just shy of 5 months old and he has brought so much joy and love to our little family!!
These pictures were taken just the other day!! He's showing off his new "move" sitting up!!! What a big boy!
Almost a year later......
Now that I am a stay at home mom, officially, there is no excuse to have an un-updated blog.... There are so many crazy, exciting things happening in our lives and it's time to fill everyone in!! I've given my blog a little face lift and am (really trying to) committing some time to update my blog a couple times a week!! The Reed household has been CUH-RAZY for about, I don't know, 7 months so stay tuned for what we've been up to!!
