Beth Moore

As I was doing my Psalms of Ascent study this morning, there was an excerpt by Eugene Peterson that I loved and felt led to share....

"We are not presented with a functional god who will help us out of jams or an entertainment god who will lighten our tedious hours. We are presented with the God of exodus and Easter, the God of Sinai and Calvary. If we want to understand God, we must do it on his terms. If we want to see God the way he really is, we must look to the place of authority- to Scripture and to Jesus Christ.
And do we really want it any other way? I don't think so. We would very soon become contemptuous of a god whom we could figure out like a puzzle or learn to use like a tool. No, if God is worth our attention at all, he must be a God we can look up to- a God we must look up to... The moment we look up to God (and not over him, or down on him) we are in the posture of servitude."

Beth Moore goes on to say, "Peterson doesn't mean God can't or won't get us out of jams. But if that's all we make of him, we've missed the true enormity of God. Think about what Peterson said about figuring God out like a puzzle. Consider afresh that God was just as intentional about what he didn't tell us in scripture as what he did. You might say that what is missing and unexplained on the pages of scripture is in some ways just as inspired as what you find in ink. Who else is so brilliant, so multidimensional, and gloriously mysterious that you could spend your entire life studying and never grasp his vastness."

What an incredible God we serve! So often, we try to make God what we think he should be in our heads. Rather, look up and listen. Rely on the pages of the Bible. Allow him to reveal himself, on his terms!

"I lift my eyes to you, the one enthroned in heaven."
Psalm 123:1

The Big 2-7

Today is my 27th birthday and what a wonderful day it is!!!! I woke up to Dawson grabbing my nose (he doesn't sleep in our bed, Bobby just put him there as he was leaving today because he was WIDE awake and getting frustrated that he was by himself...), followed shortly by Brady yelling for me to come get him for some cuddles :) He said, "hi mommy!! Hatty birtday and da pawty and da birtday caaaaaaaake!!!" It was the sweetest thing ever!! We lounged around and then all got dressed and went to meet Bobby for lunch at one of my favorite restaurants ever, The Brook.

We had a nice long lunch and by the time we left, the boys were spent, it was WAAAAY past nap time. When we got home, it was like magic, they both went to sleep at the same time! What a birthday present :) I got to finish my bible study and write this blog! In addition to all these wonderful things, today marks a VERY awesome day in our families life! Today was Bobby's last day at his current job, doing business development for an aerospace company. He's been with Primus International for over three years and has been very content there, however, he has felt God tugging on his heart for quite sometime.

Bobby and I had a pretty deep conversation this past summer about the fact that we thought God had way bigger plans for us than what we were allowing him to carry out. We talked about the legacy we were leaving in this world and immediately knew it wasn't enough. We began volunteering more at church and really praying that God start opening doors to allow us to have more influence on this community. Then this fall our church, First Christian Church of Owasso, announced that they would be launching a multi-site location on the opposite side of town. To make a long story short, God opened up a ton of doors both with this Stone Canyon site and in our lives! Bobby applied for the position and after a few months of interviews with lots of different people, he was offered the position of Campus Pastor of the FCC Stone Canyon site! The launch date is set for August 22, 2010 and we couldn't be more excited to reach the lost and influence this community for God's Kingdom!!!

Dawson Maddox Micheal Reed

Disregard the goofy OU hat :) He has an OSU one just like it but somehow, no one managed to take any pictures of him in it!! Anyhow, this sweet little bundle of joy was born on September 21, 2009 at 1:00 in the afternoon. He weighed 7lbs 14.5 oz and was 21.5 inches long. Bobby and I were pretty sure that since Brady was such a mild mannered, sweet, easy going baby that we were really in for a little terror child..... WRONG!! God blessed us with the most laid back, happy baby ever!! From the second he entered this world it was like he was saying, "can everyone just chill out and be happy?!" He latched on quickly and slept well and allowed me to take him with me to practice everyday!! He was born on Monday and attended his first practice and football game on Friday and his first (of many) marching band competitions on Saturday. He got to take trips to St. Louis, MO and Indianapolis, IN all before he was 7 weeks old! Finally around 8 weeks after he was born, we got to settle down and relax for a few weeks before the holidays arrived along with lots of family to cuddle and love him!

Proud parents!!

So sweet :)

Brady absolutely ADORES his baby brother! This is Brady and Dawson when Dawson was just 6 weeks old!

More kisses! This picture was taken on Christmas Day!

Dawson is now just shy of 5 months old and he has brought so much joy and love to our little family!!

These pictures were taken just the other day!! He's showing off his new "move" sitting up!!! What a big boy!

Almost a year later......

Now that I am a stay at home mom, officially, there is no excuse to have an un-updated blog.... There are so many crazy, exciting things happening in our lives and it's time to fill everyone in!! I've given my blog a little face lift and am (really trying to) committing some time to update my blog a couple times a week!! The Reed household has been CUH-RAZY for about, I don't know, 7 months so stay tuned for what we've been up to!!
